Hit Player

M3U player for your Smart TV

An M3U player is an app that reads an M3U or M3U8 playlist — a list of stream links from your IPTV provider — and turns it into channels you can browse and watch. Hit Player does this on Samsung and LG Smart TVs, with a TV guide, movies and series.

What is an M3U playlist?

M3U is a plain-text playlist format. Each entry holds a channel or video name and the address of its stream. M3U8 is the same format saved with UTF-8 encoding, which keeps non-Latin channel names readable. Providers usually give you an M3U URL, so your player always loads the latest version of the list.

How to play an M3U playlist on your TV

It takes about two minutes:

  • Install Hit Player from Samsung Apps or the LG Content Store.
  • Open Accounts and choose to add a playlist.
  • Enter the M3U URL from your provider.
  • Wait a few seconds while Hit Player loads your channels, movies and series.

What Hit Player adds to a plain M3U list

A raw playlist is just a long list of links. Hit Player organises it into something you'd actually want to use on a TV:

  • Channels grouped by category, with favourites
  • A TV guide (EPG) with what's on now and next
  • Movies and series with posters and continue watching
  • Automatic refresh so your list stays up to date

If your M3U playlist won't load

Check that the URL is complete and copied exactly — M3U links are long and case-sensitive. If the link opens in a browser but not on your TV, ask your provider whether it is limited to one device or IP address.

Frequently asked questions

Is an M3U player legal?

Yes. An M3U player only plays the playlist you give it, like any media player. Make sure the content in your playlist comes from a provider you're legally entitled to use.

What's the difference between M3U and M3U8?

M3U8 is an M3U playlist saved with UTF-8 encoding. Hit Player supports both.

Does Hit Player come with M3U playlists?

No. Hit Player is only a player — you need your own playlist from a provider.

A player, not a provider

Hit Player does not provide, sell or host any channels, playlists or subscriptions. You need your own playlist from a provider you are legally entitled to use. We do not support piracy.
